Jaeger-LeCoultre Launches Second Capsule Collection in Collectibles Program
Jaeger-LeCoultre is pleased to present a second capsule collection of rare and highly sought-after timepieces under its Collectors Programme. Designed for high quality watches replica lovers who wish to learn about the history of the Grande Manufacture, the collection is launched to coincide with the 190th anniversary of the founding of the Grande Manufacture and is part of Jaeger-LeCoultre's continuing offering.
The Collection covers 50 years of the "Golden Age" of watchmaking in the 20th century (1920s to 1970s), outlining how watchmaking evolved during 5 decades of major social and technological change, and the role of Jaeger-LeCoultre in this evolution. Under the Collectibles programme, an ever-evolving selection of historic timepieces is presented and available for purchase in a series of capsule collections in different cities around the world.
To complement these carefully curated collections, Jaeger-LeCoultre has published The Collection, an authoritative reference to 17 historic models that represent not only the high level of Jaeger-LeCoultre, but also the development of watchmaking in the 20th century. Written by experts at the Manufacture, this beautiful coffee table book describes each watch in encyclopedic detail and is complemented by copies of historical documents from the Manufacture's archives. Beautifully illustrated, it also offers fascinating insights into the cultural and social context in which watches were developed. All replica luxury Watches offered in The Collectibles program are drawn from the 17 watches in this book.
Each Collector's Edition watch comes with an excerpt from the Jaeger-LeCoultre archives and a bonus "Collector's Collection" coffee table book, and a new calfskin strap has been carefully selected to complement the style of each watch. Additionally, the original box and papers will be included as well as the original watch strap or bracelet, if available.
The second capsule collection consists of 11 watches, including the Duoplan of the 1920s, early Reverso watches and two great innovations of the early 1950s: the Futurematic and the Memovox.
The Futurematic was the world's first fully automatic watch without a traditional crown and winding mechanism, and was said to be the most accurate watch in the world at the time. Thanks to the breakthrough caliber 497, the Shopping replica watches can be stopped before it is fully unfolded - effectively "going to sleep", while retaining enough energy to restart with utmost precision, even after prolonged periods of inactivity. The time is set via a disc on the case back and the absence of a winding crown emphasizes the purity and symmetry of the Futurematic design.
In 1957, seven years after the first Memovox watch, Jaeger-LeCoultre engineers combined the two major technical advantages of alarm function and automatic winding for the first time to create the Caliber 815 movement. The five Memovox watches offered in the second capsule collection include two Memovox Automatic Calendar watches; and two Memovox Automatic Calendar watches. The watch is powered by Caliber 825 and has a date display at 3 o'clock.
Each piece has been thoroughly scrutinized by Jaeger-LeCoultre historical experts and fully repaired and restored by professional watchmakers in the Jaeger-LeCoultre Restoration Workshop. The restoration team, currently numbering 10 specialists, can browse the manufacturer's archives and find blueprints for each piece and, in some cases, original spare parts. If no components are available, they can use their stock of approximately 6,000 forgings or stamps to manufacture the same components from scratch. Since the manufacturer is fully integrated, the entire process can be carried out in-house. While mechanical restoration may be important in some cases, interventions on the case and dial must be kept to a minimum, as too much work can alter the historic nature of a collector's piece; therefore,
The second capsule collection will be presented in Los Angeles from June 16th to 21st for collectors and Jaeger-LeCoultre enthusiasts to visit at the Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique on Rodeo Drive. In addition to the newly restored watches on sale, visitors to the boutique will also discover pieces from the Manufacture's archives, each representing 17 chapters in the collection. This book focuses on the pioneering spirit that has always driven La Grande Maison. They will also enjoy live demonstrations of the painstaking craftsmanship of polishing screws and the fascinating art of hot blue hands. These two techniques are among the dozens employed in the Manufacture's restoration workshops, breathing new life into decades-old creations so that these timeless objects can be handed down from generation to generation.
